Collection of five children’s films. In ‘Charlotte’s Web’ (2006) after the farm’s prize sow gives birth to a grand litter, farmer’s daughter Fern (Dakota Fanning) befriends one of the piglets and names him Wilbur (voice of Dominic Scott Kay). However, when he grows older Wilbur is moved to Fern’s uncle’s farm down the street and learns that when winter arrives he will meet an unfortunate fate. With time running out, Fern and a gentle spider (Julia Roberts) join forces to save Wilbur’s life. In ‘The Cat in the Hat’ (2003) Mike Myers stars as the eponymous Cat, who arrives at the home of Conrad and Sally Walden (Spencer Breslin and Fanning) when their mother (Kelly Preston) has gone out, having left strict instructions that the house must be spotless on her return. The cat proceeds to show the children how to have fun, but will they be able to clear up the mess before their mother gets back? In ‘Barnyard’ (2006) Otis (Kevin James) is a young cow who lives a carefree life having fun and playing tricks on humans. His father, Ben (Sam Elliott), the wizened leader of the barnyard disapproves and thinks the youngster is risking divulging the animals’ secret lives to the humans with his irresponsible attitude. A quirk of fate puts Otis in the leader’s seat, however, and he’s forced to grow up fast. In ‘The Rugrats Movie’ (1998) following the birth of his baby brother, young Tommy Pickles (Elizabeth Daily) and his chums Chuckie (Christine Cavanaugh), Phil (Kath Soucie) and Lil (Soucie) decide to play at returning the newly arrived infant to hospital. Commandeering the Reptar Wagon – the invention of Tommy’s father – the Rugrats set off for the city. Finally, in ‘Lassie’ (1994) after being taken in by a new family, Lassie soon realises all is not well with the family’s young son, who is struggling to come to terms with both his unfamiliar rural surroundings and the recent death of his mother, whose childhood farmstead now provides their new home. In a bid to help him, the resourceful dog leads him on a sentimental journey through the places and memories of his mother’s past.
