Documentary centred on the Sherpa people in Nepal and their role in helping foreigners climb Mount Everest. During the 2014 climbing season, Australian film-maker Jennifer Peedom set out to document the life of the Sherpas after their infamous brawl with tourists in 2013 that made headlines worldwide. The crew hoped to highlight the plight of the Sherpa who each year undertake the dangerous task of helping foreigners reach the summit of Everest as they try to make enough money during the short climbing season to provide for their families year-round. However, the film-maker’s plans changed after 16 Sherpa were killed when a 14 million ton block of ice fell on the treacherous Khumbu Icefall passage, near the moutain’s base camp. The tragedy caused the native Sherpas to re-examine their role in the lucrative business of climbing the notorious mountain that they believe to be sacred.
