The Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS Contemporary for Canon lens is ideal for handheld photography. Offering all the core features, this lens boasts incredibly compact and lightweight construction.
Detachable tripod socket
The tripod socket is detachable, allowing the lens to be carried by itself. After the socket is replaced with the protective cover, the lens can be carried easily.
Without the socket, the lens has minimal protruding parts and fits well into limited space for storage. Moreover, the tripod socket is made of magnesium, which is light and strong at the same time.
A robust specification offering both manoeuvrability and usability
This lens features all the core functionality you need for your photography, including splash- and dust-proof construction, a zoom lock switch that can be set for any focal length, a water- and oil-repellent lens coating, an easily accessible AF/MO/MF switch and a newly designed tripod socket.
Intelligent OS featuring updated algorithm.
The OS (Optical Stabiliser) function features an acceleration sensor to ensure even higher precision. Two OS modes are available: Mode 1 for general photography and Mode 2 for motor sports and other applications requiring panning.
Note: This lens is incompatible with film SLR cameras with the exception of the Nikon F6 and Canon EOS-1V.
Two full-time manual modes available, including manual override
In addition to AF and MF, MO (Manual Override) is available as an option via the focus mode switch. When the switch is set in the MO position, the lens may be switched to manual focus simply by rotating the focus ring even during continuous AF.
Quieter and faster optimised AF
The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures high speed and quiet AF. Sigma has enhanced focus accuracy in autofocus continuous (AF-C) mode by 5%.
46-megapixel Foveon direct image sensor
The 46 effective megapixel (4,800 × 3,200 × 3 layers) and 44 recording megapixel (4,704 × 3,136 × 3 layers) 23.5 × 15.7mm APS-C X3 direct image sensor captures all primary RGB colours at each and every pixel location, ensuring the capture of full and complete colour.
Using three silicon-embedded layers of photo detectors, stacked vertically to take advantage of silicon’s ability to absorb red, green and blue light at different respective depths, it efficiently reproduces colour more accurately and offers sharper resolution, pixel for pixel, than any conventional image sensor.
