Collection of five action adventures. In ‘The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl’ (2005) Cayden Boyd stars as Max, a ten-year-old outcast who escapes his lonely world when his dreams magically come to life. Max and his two imaginary friends, Sharkboy (Taylor Lautner), a half-breed of boy and shark and Lavagirl (Taylor Dooley), with flaming hair and hands that melt everything she touches, embark on a mission to prove to the world that all it takes is a dream to make anything a reality. In ‘Bicentennial Man’ (1999) it’s the year 2005 and Richard Martin (Sam Neill) purchases a domestic android, NDR 114 nicknamed ‘Andrew’ (Robin Williams), to act as a household servant to his family. Although a robot, Andrew possesses an individual personality and gradually begins to exhibit signs of humanity. These are encouraged by Richard and his daughter, whom Andrew addresses as Little Miss (Hallie Kate Eisenberg/Lindze Letherman/Embeth Davidtz), until Andrew eventually requests his freedom. Reluctantly, Richard agrees, and when Andrew is befriended by Rupert Burns (Oliver Platt), the son of the man who created him, he embarks on a quest to become truly ‘human’. In ‘RV: Runaway Vacation’ (2006), an overworked Bob Munro (Williams), his wife Jaime (Cheryl Hines), their 15-year-old daughter Cassie (Joanna Levesque) and 12-year-old son Carl (Josh Hutcherson) are in desperate need of some quality time together. After promising to take them on a family vacation in Hawaii, Bob abruptly changes plans without telling them; instead of a week in tropical paradise they’re going on a road trip to Colorado in a recreational vehicle. Unfortunately, everything that can go wrong, does and every attempt Bob makes to get them into the spirit of the vacation threatens to tear them further apart. In ‘Zathura – A Space Adventure’ (2005) Jonah Bobo and Josh Hutcherson star as brothers Danny and Walter. Despite their squabbling Danny and Walter manage to co-operate enough to play an old mechanical board game named Zathura. However, after their first move, they find that the game has apparently transported them, their sister and their entire house into outer space. Furthermore, the brothers surmise the only way to return home is to finish the game. However with almost every move, new dangers arise as the siblings find themselves learning to work together in ways they never expected as they realise what they mean to each other. Finally in ‘Zoom – Academy for Superheroes’ (2006), when Earth is faced with certain destruction, an over-the-hill superhero called Zoom (Tim Allen) is charged with the task of training four super-powered kids to harness their powers and save the planet. But Zoom has lost his super-speed and gained a cynical chip on his shoulder. Will he regain his faith in heroes in time to battle an impending menace?
