Collection of three comedies. ‘The Dictator’ (2012) is written by and starring Sacha Baron Cohen and follows the dedicated attempts of a dictator to stave off the threat of democracy. Like all good dictators, General Admiral Aladeen (Cohen), the self-described Supreme Leader, All Triumphant General and Chief Ophthalmologist of the People’s Republic of Wadiya, believes that the people of his nation don’t really know what they want – only he does. He believes that democracy is a terrible threat and that he must cast himself against it with as much vigour as he can muster. Unfortunately, in the form of ill-intentioned meddlers like the United States of America and the United Nations, Aladeen also faces external threats to his rule. The film follows him as he heads to a UN meeting in New York to defy his enemies and their notions of ‘rule by the people’. In ‘Anchorman – The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ (2004), Will Ferrell stars as Ron Burgundy, a top-rated 1970s San Diego anchorman who believes women have no place in the. So when Ron is told he’ll be working with a bright young newswoman (Christina Applegate) who’s beautiful, ambitious, and intelligent enough to be more than eye candy, it’s not just a clash of two TV-people with really great hair: it’s war. Finally, ‘Tropic Thunder’ (2008) follows a group of self-absorbed actors who, during the filming of a big-budget Vietnam epic, begin to misbehave, resulting in a four million dollar explosion going off with no cameras shooting, rendering the whole project unviable before it has even begun. The director of the film, Damien Cockburn (Steve Coogan), decides to leave the spoiled actors in the middle of the jungle and, in an attempt to salvage some footage from the wreckage of the doomed project, installs hidden cameras to follow their escape. The actors are left with only a map and a scene listing to guide them to the helicopter waiting at the end of the jungle. Along the way they encounter a series of obstacles including land mines and an international heroin-dealing ring.
