Just like any knife, the cutting edge can rust or wear over time and heavy use. Sewists can always ask to have their blades sharpened, but after a blade is sharpened more than once the quality of your cut edge may suffer. For this reason, we have many Overlocker cutting blades available for purchase. These blades differ from model to model, so make sure to check your machines model number and compare the fixture on your current blade.
Janome Direct is happy to answer any questions regarding blade replacements, but heres a quick guide:
When installing new knives on your overlocker just remember this simple rule. The lower blade is mounted flush or very closely to the needle plate while the upper knife is mounted with its cutting edge just below that of the lower knife, approximately 1.5 mm. A compression spring on the upper knife pushes the blades together to secure the cutting edges close together and leave a clean cut.
